Privacy Policy

Reading CasinoSectors requires no account, no subscription and no form. Each page request still leaves a little technical data behind. Below: every item, why it is kept, and the controls you hold.

Responsible party

Mizzenline Digital Media Limited, Heritage House, Ocean Village, Gibraltar GX11 1AA, decides what is collected and why, and is therefore the responsible party (data controller). Requests of any kind go to [email protected].

The data, item by item

• Request logs. The IP number, browser and device string, requested URL, referrer and timestamp. Our hosting and security provider keeps them to serve pages and fend off attacks, then purges them within weeks.
• Two first-party cookies. One holds a random visitor number, the other the channel a visit arrived through. Together they let the desk count readers and clicks without identifying anyone.
• /go/ click entries. Which brand link was followed, at what time, and the random visit code handed to that brand.
• Mail to the desk. Your address and message, used to answer you and nothing else.

There is no external analytics tag, ad pixel, screen recorder or mailing list on the site, and no ID documents or card numbers are ever requested.

Purposes and grounds

Serving and protecting the site, seeing which files get read, counting how many readers go on to a brand (that count is what funds the index — see how we earn) and answering mail. The legal basis is the publisher's legitimate interest in keeping an independent register running and paid for, and, for correspondence, your own request. Data is never sold and no ad profiles are built.

Recipients

Request logs are handled for us by the hosting and network provider. A brand you click through to gets the random visit code so that it can credit the referral; neither your name nor your mailbox travels with it. On the brand's own pages, its privacy rules take over. Some providers process data outside South Africa, and we work only with those that offer adequate safeguards.

Retention

Request logs: several weeks. Visitor cookie: twelve months. Source cookie: thirty days. Redirect cookies: roughly twenty hours. Click entries survive only in aggregated form, for as long as commission statements need reconciling. Mail is erased once the conversation is over.

Your POPIA rights

The Protection of Personal Information Act — and the GDPR where it covers you — entitles you to learn what we hold on you, to have it fixed or erased and to object to its processing. As the desk cannot tell readers apart, quote the value of your mz_vid cookie so the right records can be found. Unhappy with how we handle a request? The Information Regulator (South Africa), or the data-protection authority of your own country, accepts complaints.

Minors

CasinoSectors is written for adults over 18 and does not knowingly hold anything about younger people.
